Who We Are

Located in the heart of North Raleigh, Slate Storage-Newton is a family-owned, newly built, all climate-controlled, 3-level self storage facility. It was built from the ground up and took over two years to complete: breaking ground in 2016, opening in October of 2018. This facility is completely up to date in every way. Slate Storage was developed and is owned by Development Management Incorporated (DMI) out of Charlotte, NC. DMI owns numerous other properties in the states of North and South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. DMI has developed over 5 million square feet of property since its inception in 1976. Most recently DMI has shifted its focus from shopping centers to self storage facilities, currently operating six in the Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, Winston-Salem, and now Raleigh markets.

That commitment, coupled with a dynamic and experienced management team, allows us to provide exceptional and consistent customer service, affordable rates, convenience, and security for all of your belongings. We aim to give every tenant the family feel of a smaller company with amenities, features, and security that exceed expectations time and time again.

Why Us?

Slate Storage Newton specializes in climate-controlled self storage. We currently have 593 climate-controlled units that range from the smallest size of 5x5 to the largest of 10x30, with more room to build. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, affordable rates, a pristine clean building, and absolute security. Moving can be an overwhelming task. We understand this and are here to help. The enormous front canopy shadows our front office and loading zone, and makes moving even in the rain, sleet, or snow a comfortable experience. We provide our customers the use of numerous oversized moving carts and rolling dollies. Every tenant receives their own personal ID code to enter both the building and elevators. With security in mind, we installed a top of the line camera system that records on a DVR 24 hours a day. We have a substantial number of first floor units, but as a multi-level facility we have developed this building with ease in mind. Our freight- sized elevators provide ample room for any item to be lifted to our 2nd or 3rd floor. As you exit the elevators, we constructed large lobby areas that lead into 6 foot wide hallways. This creates an easily accessible pathway to your storage unit that you won’t find at every facility. To accommodate the needs of both commercial and residential customers, we do offer 24-hour access and wi-fi on site. We even have three separate bathrooms!

Even with all of that, it is the extraordinary one-on-one customer service that sets us apart. Working with the two on-site manager’s, who are reachable 24 hours a day, means you will only deal with us. You should never have to work with anyone but our site Manager and Assistant Manager. This allows us to cultivate a relationship with every tenant. We believe that the pinnacle of customer service can only be reached in that manner, and that is our goal.
